Port Charlotte, Fla. (March 2, 2013)--Sam Nott belted his team-leading fifth home run of the season, but the Mount baseball team fell to Air Force, 7-3, on Saturday afternoon.
Air Force (4-6) scored four times in the top of the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie. The Falcons had a pair of doubles in the frame and were aided by a Mount error.
Mount St. Mary's (3-7) got right back in the game in the bottom of the sixth when Nott connected for a three-run homer to make it 4-3. Jay Knight walked, and Mark Quaranta singled ahead of Nott, who hit his home run over the left-center field fence.
Air Force tallied single runs in each of the final three innings to pull away for the win.
Andrew Clow went 2-for-4 for the Mount, which finished with eight hits in the ballgame. Chris Campbell started for the Mount, allowing four runs (two earned) in 3.2 innings. Alain Girman pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief while Michael Locondro allowed two runs in 1.2 innings of work. Jordan Lawson did not allow a run in 0.1 innings with Vince Molesky allowing a run in the ninth.
The Mount is back in action on Saturday, March 9, with a 1:00 p.m. home game against Maryland-Baltimore County.
