Mount Baseball Gets Back in Win Column with 14-8 Victory over St. Bonaventure

Port Charlotte, Fla. (February 26, 2013)--Mount St. Mary's topped St. Bonaventure, 14-8, on Tuesday to improve to 3-4 on the season.  Nick Walker went 3-for-5 with four runs scored to pace the Mountaineers in the win.

The Mount (3-4) scored five times in the top of the first inning to take control of the game.  Walker singled to open the game, and with one out, St. Bonaventure starting pitcher Steven Klimek walked the next six batters, forcing home three runs while another scored on a wild pitch.  Brandon Scott added an RBI bunt to make it 5-0.

An error on a double steal in the second pushed the lead to 6-0 while Tom Healy's two-run double in the fourth made it 8-0.  The Mount added four more runs in the fifth for a 12-0 lead.  Walker had an RBI single, Jay Knight a sacrifice fly, and Mark Quaranta a two-run homer in the frame.

Healy went 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI with Scott chipping in a pair of hits in the victory.

On the mound, starter Alain Girman struck out four while allowing three runs (two earned) in four innings.  Reliever Kevin Myers earned the win, allowing three earned runs in four innings.

The Mount and St. Bonaventure will play on Thursday, February 28, at 12:00 p.m.
