EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 1, 2022) – On a rainy Sunday, Mount St. Mary's baseball were held to five hits by the Bryant Bulldogs pitching staff. Five extra base hits, including three homeruns, provided enough offense for Bryant to take an 8-0 win.
Aiden Tierney managed two hits during the day, including an aggressive infield single punctuated with a slide. With 70 at-bats, Tierney has amassed a .386 average. All the Mount's hits came from spots three through six in the lineup.
Cooper Adams rebounded with a tough start to put together seven innings of work, matching his single game strikeout total by earning 10 Bryant whiffs. A total of 12 Bulldogs retired via the strikeout, with reliever
Blake Beal registering two more.
Bryant got their first run on a wild pitch and the second on an infield single from John Tuccillo. Jake Gustin added two homeruns – a two-run shot in the fifth and a solo in the seventh. Carmine Petosa followed with a right field blast in the eighth. A pair of doubles in the ninth closed out the scoring.
Mount St. Mary's plays a midweek contest at home with George Mason, with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday (May 4).
