Position: Assistant Director of Athletics for Athletic Communications (men's basketball, softball, cross country, track)

Vandergrift has been the Sports Information Director at Mount St. Mary's since 2002, serving as the primary contact for men's basketball, men's and women's track and field, men's and women's cross country and softball.


Elevated to Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications in 2010, Vandergrift was instrumental in the launch of the new Mount St. Mary's athletic logo and the new redesign of under PrestoSports.


Vandergrift served as a graduate assistant in Niagara’s Sports Information Office for two years before being named Sports Information Director in 1996.  Prior to his time at Niagara, he served as a student assistant in the Sports Information Office at St. Francis (Pa.).


Vandergrift has experience with postseason play, serving in the past as the media coordinator for the 2000 NCAA Men’s Basketball First and Second Rounds in Buffalo, N.Y., the College Hockey America Conference Tournament in 2002, and the MAAC Softball Tournament in Buffalo in 2002.


A 1993 graduate of St. Francis (Pa.) where he earned his BS in mathematics with a minor in physics, Vandergrift earned a master’s degree in business administration from Niagara in 1999.


In the community, Vandergrift has coached youth baseball in the McSherrystown Recreation Department and is the 7th and 8th grade varsity boys basketball coach at Sacred Heart School in Hanover, Pa.


A native of Pittsburgh, Vandergrift resides in Littlestown, Pa., with his wife Dana.  He has four children, Anthony (23), Matthew (15), Lindsey (14) and Zeke (8).
