Eric Hansen is in his sixth year as the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer and his eighth year overall at Mount St, Mary's in 2012-13. Hansen came to the Mount in the winter of 2004 and served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer until August 2007 when he was named the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer.
Hansen is also the Vice President of the Maryland Athletic Trainer Association.
Prior to his time at the Mount, Hansen served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Hood College during the Blazer’s transition to a co-ed institution and the addition of men’s collegiate athletic programs.
A 2003 graduate of Barry University, Hansen worked with the 2001 NCAA Division II volleyball national champions, the nationally ranked softball team and the NCAA Final Four Men’s and Women’s Soccer Tournament.
While living in Miami, Fla., Hansen also worked with the Gold Cup Soccer Tournament, Volvo Ocean Race and served as an A.T.C. for Miami Jai-Alai. He was an intern for the Florida Class III-A state football runner-ups.
Hansen, who completed his master's degree at the University of California (Pa.), in 2008 will be the primary athletic trainer for the Mount St. Mary's men's basketball and men's lacrosse teams and will help with the other 17 varsity sports at Mount St. Mary's.
Hansen resides in Walkersville, Md., with his wife Teresa and his children Joseph (11), Tessa (9) and Melissa (6).
