Nicolas Fransham, Alexa Quintanilla Named Criswell Chevrolet Student-Athletes of the Month

Emmitsburg, Md. (November 1, 2017) – Mount St. Mary's University junior Nicolas Fransham of the cross country team and sophomore Alexa Quintanilla of the women's tennis team have been named Criswell Chevrolet Student-Athletes of the Month for October.

Fransham placed eighth overall at the NEC Championships this past weekend to collect All-Northeast Conference honors for the second consecutive season, as he became the first Mountaineer to earn All-NEC honors in back-to-back since seasons since Dylan Bernard (2008-11). Earlier in October, Fransham took first place in a field of 254 runners at the Gettysburg Invitational to help the Mount to a second-place team finish.

Quintanilla has continued her strong start to the 2017-18 season as the sophomore sits at 13-2 overall in singles action and 6-5 in doubles. Quintanilla, who was the lone Mountaineer to qualify for the ITA Regionals in singles, won her first-round matchup over Georgetown's Drew Spinosa to advance to the round of 32. Quintanilla also competed alongside rookie Megan Gamble in doubles action at the regionals, but the duo was edged in the first round against Navy.
