Teaneck, N.J. (May 15, 2010)-Mount St. Mary's scored 10 runs in the top of the ninth to rally past Fairleigh Dickinson, 12-9, in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.  The Knights captured game one, 2-1.

The Mount finishes the regular season 20-31 overall and 14-18 in the Northeast Conference.

Trailing 9-2 in the top of the ninth, the Mount's first two batters reached on errors to start the rally.  Mike Matta had an RBI double ahead of a three-run homer from Josh Winter that cut the deficit to 9-6.  Jacob Darr and Michael Foster had back-to-back RBI singles to make the score 9-8 before Kyle Kane's infield single knotted the game at 9-9.  Winter's two-run single gave the Mount the lead before Alex Andrews rounded out the inning with an RBI double.

Winter, who had a double, a home run and five RBI in the ninth, was 3-for-5 at the plate in the victory.  Matta went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored while Kane, Andrews and Foster added two hits each.

Patrick Moriarty pitched a scoreless eighth to earn his first collegiate victory while Matta added a scoreless ninth for his sixth save.

In the opening game, FDU scored twice in the third and held on for the 2-1 victory.  The Mount's lone run came on a Darr solo homer.  Costa Kapothanasis struck out six while allowing just three hits in the complete-game loss.

The Mount will now wait and see if it is among the top four in the Northeast Conference standings to earn a spot in the NEC Tournament.  NEC play concludes next weekend with the Mount on a bye.  The Mount entered today seventh in the NEC standings.
